Riley Seufert - Final Devlog
Hello hello, I am one of the members of the design team of this very game! I had a great time with this project and hope to work on more much like it. My contributions where: The designer of the Garden/Outside level, assist in Garden/Outside level's art passes, rough draft 2D maps for all levels, Knight dialog, minor blue print creation (invisible walls and player into pop-ups), assistance in UI and art elements, sticker making because why not and the resident group to group telephone.
My first and most major task was the make the garden level with my wonderful artist Kyra. Our main goal was to make a level that had a perfect balance of look vs feel, which we tried our best to achieve. It started with me making a basic block out of the castle (which would eventually turn into me making the block out for the Castle's First Floor) and additionally blocking the rest of the garden to hand over to Kyra. From there it became a game of push and pull, back and fourth between me and Kyra of adding in this that made the level feel good within our game and additional making it look as good as it feels to be in. I add the guard blueprint , provided by our coding team then Kyra add more detail to the area in which the patrol, so on and so until we came to what we have now. While I think we found a good balance of both, the level does suffer in its navigation. It is easy for the player to get lost. Overall, I think we did a great job for a level designed to be both a tutorial and a pseudo-overworld.

Pass my major responsibility I got to fill my usual and best jobs. The Jack of Some Trades! When I wasn't making the Garden I was often helping other members or teams. See and need, fill and need and all. My only complaint about would be that I didn't get to sink in more into certain aspects, such as UI or blueprint making (though for the blueprint making, knowing my below average coding skills and my habit of breaking perfectly normal Blueprints that was probably for the best).
As I said before I had a blast on this project and hope to implement a lot that I learned into my future projects!
