Diego Marrufo - Concept Artist


-Work

For this project, I was part of the art team, specifically as a concept artist. While most of my designs were not utilized, two enemy designs the BeetleBot and the SpiderBot were successfully implemented.

-Learn

During this project i was able to get a better understanding on what it's like to work with a team. For concept artist its pretty common that a lot of your work won't be used for many reasons and i was able to experience that feeling firsthand but luckily two of my designs made it in kind of. I also learn how frustrating it feels to not do enough right now my skill sets are pretty much 2D stuff so when working on a 3D game i pretty much useful for early planning anything else is a struggle, tried fix the problem by doing more like designing posters and doing a bit of texturing for some models. This really brought to light on places where i need to improved and expand my skills

-Surprising

The most surprising thing for me was realizing just how much communication is needed to get tasks done when working with a team. In the past, I’ve been on teams where I could pretty much do things on my own and come back with the finished work. But with this project, I had to go through a few people just to figure out what I needed to do.

-Achievements

For me my greatest achievement in this project is my concept art specifically the designs for the beetle and spider bots. It was satisfying feeling seeing some thing i design being approved and being made in 3D with a few tweaks.
