Alyssa Raetzel - Narrative Designer/Writer


Contributions to the Project:

  • Wrote description for the Missile skill
  • Designed the Ending section of the game's story beats
  • Added various character quips based on the player being in-combat, when enemies are approaching, and when the player defeats enemies

Unexpected Moments during Project Development:

  • Having only a few weeks to build the narrative of the game was difficult. We managed to do it, but I definitely think that having more time to develop the world and characters would've really made the game shine.
  • We built a whole game in a month! 

Successes:

  • Effective communication amongst the other writers in my team and the other concentration teams as well. It was easy to work with the Artists and Programmers.
  • Frequent meetings and a Discord server ensured that everyone was on the same page during the project's development and allowed for quick resolutions to any issues or questions that others had.

Challenges:

  • Short timeline to create game resulted in little time for narrative development.

Thoughts Overall:

I enjoyed creating a game with a team and it was fun to come up with the story from scratch. I would've liked having more time to develop the game overall, but I think we managed to come up with something solid regardless.
