Contributions to the project:
- Wrote and edited minor parts of the main script
- Assisted with communications between the narrative team and other teams
- Wrote descriptions for the Shield-bot enemy and the skill you get from defeating it
- Hosted a story-boarding meeting for cinematographic moments in-game
- Assisted with credits list assembly
What did you learn during this project?
- Communication is key: It is very easy for teams to get off-track from each other. Communicating between teams and helping to ensure everyone was on the same page was vital in ensuring the success of this project.
- Knowing my limitations: For me, it was difficult to maintain the upkeep of my contributions to this project as well as focus on the rest of my classes. Being able to rely on a team is fantastic.
- The importance of structure: In designing a game, it is vital that teams are kept in the know and on-track. When someone doesn't know what they’re meant to be doing, it can cause issues for everyone else. It was
- Being adaptable: In the original conception of the script, the Sergeant was meant to be a woman. However, we had a male voice actor read the lines because of who was available and when. Our script was able to be adapted easily to fit the selected voice actor.
What was the most surprising part of this project?
- Interesting ideas can come from anywhere. Within our narrative team, everyone had tons of great ideas to share, but art and programming had some incredible contributions of their own. The lines between teams are thinner than I had imagined.
What do you consider your greatest achievement during this project to be?
- Being able to assist others where I could and share burdens with others on the narrative team. A heavy load is easier when you have people to share it with, and I was able to help others on the team. I was not always able to help out, due to personal burdens, but helping others on the narrative team with the storyboard and the credits list is my greatest accomplishment.
